I did not finish my chair on-time and labored months after it was supposed to be finished. It was a valuable lesson in how thoughtful design at the beginning will impact a product. Now it rests in my apartment; my friends sit and rock in the chair I built and I love to watch their face when they learn that I made it.
challenged myself to in wood and metal together so that I would have a solid understanding of both building elements. You can see an overview of my process, seen here in detail sketches to early digital models to the physical craft and finally the finished product. No design-build process is ever linear and these multiple pages from my sketchbooks show the evolving thoughts and problem solving over the months of iteration and construction.
