Urban Chicken Coop with garden compost!
Collaborative Competition with Emily Perchlik
A local competition in Seattle, “Raise the Roost” focused on re-use and an urban condition. Visting back-alley trash bins, we found most of our materials in local construction waste. Besides re-using the built materials, we integrated re-use into the idea of the coop. The chickens are part of the coop machine—natural processes from chickens feeding to pecking to defecating are a cycle often ignored. Instead, this coop creates compost, directly contributing to the urban garden.
